Background, training and approach to teaching
Anthony Medico began his musical journey at the age of four when he started taking piano lessons. Studying with a number of local teachers throughout the years and he progressed through the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum and competed in many local music festivals and competitions. Anthony has completed the ARCT practical exam with a First Class Honours mark. He continues his studies, preparing for the ARCT level theory exams to complete his diploma as well as preparing for the Licentiate Diploma (LRCM) examination - the highest level of the Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate Program.
While Anthony’s true passion is classical piano, he also enjoys playing a number other instruments including guitar, bass and drums as well as experimenting with music production. At the age of 11 he started using his musical knowledge from piano lessons to teach himself guitar, and also took jazz bass lessons at age 14.
Anthony has played in many bands over the years, both cover and original, either on keyboards, bass or guitar. He has won various local ‘battle of the bands’ competitions and recorded on multiple occasions. He has played professionally around southern Ontario at a number of venues and various events including weddings, casinos, corporate events, fundraisers, restaurants and bars.
Anthony has been teaching for over five years, and more recently began teaching out of his home studio. He has helped many students from beginner to advanced prepare for RCM exams as well as local festivals with great success. He is passionate about teaching and seeing his students learn, progress, and develop their own passion for the instrument.
